Massasoit Celebrates 50 Years

Welcome to Massasoit Community College's 50th anniversary hub, recognizing 50 years of historic accomplishments from our humble beginnings in 1966. From our September 14 "kick-off" event through May 30, 2017 you will be invited to celebrate with us and share our achievements through anecdotes and memories. As part of our anniversary year, we have planned an exciting schedule events.

In celebration of our 50th anniversary, the college community is performing 50 acts of community service throughout the 2016-2017 academic year.

The Arts Festival - May 21
The annual Arts Festival on the Canton Campus raises funds for the Visual Arts department and accomplishes its cultural mission by attracting artists and art patrons alike, while bringing awareness to our Fine Arts program.

The Massasoit Foundation Golf Classic - May 22
The 18th annual golf classic to benefit the Massasoit Community College Foundation is now accepting registrations and sponsorships.

Massasoit's 50th Commencement - June 2
Massasoit will proudly celebrate its 2017 graduates at its 50th annual commencement ceremony.

Massasoit Day - June 3
The culminating event of our 50th celebration, the 50th Field Day will consist of free afternoon activities and music and several evening performances in the Buckley Theatre. Visit massasoit.edu/day for more information.

Radio Classics Live! - June 11
Massasoit proudly presents performances of old-time radio & television programs by celebrities, and our own Massasoit Radio Players.

The event will include special guest stars John Astin (The Addams Family) and John Davidson!
A presentation of “Command Performance,” a salute to all the women & men who served our country.

Tickets are available at the Massasoit Theatre box office.

Past Events

50th Anniversary Kick-off Days
In September, the three Massasoit locations kicked off the 50th Anniversary Celebration by participating in 50th Anniversary portraits in Brockton, Canton, and Middleborough.

As entry to the events, participants were asked to donate $1 or more to the Massasoit Food Pantry
– all told, the three events raised nearly $2600.

Portraits of Success Gala
On October 22, the College held its annual gala at the Conference Center at Massasoit.

Employee Holiday Reunion Party
In December, current and former Massasoit faculty and staff enjoyed a holiday celebration. Attendees were asked to contribute school supplies to be donated to the Mary E. Baker Elementary School in Brockton. Mary Baker, the namesake of the school, was a longtime employee at Massasoit.

In total, 17 back packs full of school supplies were collected and donated.

Messenger Runner 5K - April 8
The Massasoit Community College Foundation is hosting a 5K run/walk at the Middleborough Center.
All are welcome, and everyone registered before March 28 will get a race shirt.

Net proceeds go to benefit scholarships for Massasoit students.
