On Wednesday, December 2nd, 2016 , the Women’s Resource Center hosted a “Season of Giving Luncheon” in support of the David Jon Louison (DJL) Center. DJL was founded in 1982 in Brockton as a non-profit, charitable, educational foundation to serve homeless families with infants and children.
On October 26, 2016, the WRC hosted our monthly Lunch & Learn. The topic was- Dating Violence, presented by Sarah Garrity, Prevention and Education Manager for Violence Intervention and Prevention of Health Imperatives.”
On Wednesday, September 28th at noon in the Louison Board Room, the Women’s Resource Center presented its first Lunch & Learn for the Semester: Election 2016:Your Vote Counts! Brockton Women City Councilors: Shirley Asack, Shayna Barnes, and Anne Beauregard spoke to a crowd of students, faculty, staff and seniors about the importance of voting and getting involved in the political process.
On Monday, September 26th, at noon in the Student Lounge, the Women’s Resource Center hosted Chhandika, Kathak Dance of Northern India. Anjali Nath the senior performer for Chhandika,
provided a stimulating, supportive and multi-cultural environment in which to explore the physical, intellectual and spiritual benefits of Kathak dance. The presentation was engaging and the audience was treated to a lesson at the end. As an artist and teacher Anjali strives to highlight the relevance, universality, and overall benefits of the multi-faceted art of Kathak regardless of age, gender or culture.
