The Process
On July 14, 2017, Massasoit Community College received a notification letter from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges indicating that its accreditation is continued for the next 10 years, with a focused report due in spring of 2020 and a fifth-year interim report for consideration in the fall of 2021. The next comprehensive evaluation will be scheduled for fall 2026.

The accreditation process included a comprehensive self-study (pdf) by the College and a site visit by a team of peers, assigned by NEASC.

Massasoit Community College began the self-study process in the fall of 2014. The work began by appointing co-chairs of the self-study and a steering committee comprised of Massasoit faculty and staff. An open invitation was extended to the entire College community to engage in the process and co-chairs were selected for each of the 10 standards. The process was officially launched at the College’s fall 2014 convocation; committee work began in earnest in the fall of 2014. Throughout the following academic year, college leadership, the steering committee, the co-chairs, and the standards committees gathered and compiled information and data. In 2015, the committees wrote and edited drafts and continued to gather data and evidence.  In April 2016, a comprehensive survey was sent out to the faculty, staff and students addressing each of the NEASC standards. In April-May 2016, the draft was made available to the college community for review and comment.

The NEASC visiting team was on campus from November 6-9, 2016, meeting with students, faculty, staff, trustees, and community members to have open and frank discussions and to fully engage in conversations about Massasoit. The final report of the visiting team was sent to Massasoit on January 5, 2017; the College received word of its continued accreditation on July 14, 2017.
