Computer Concepts for Beginners

How much do you know about using your computer or downloading from the internet and attaching files? Ever wonder what terms like desktop, file, browser, and document mean? This course, designed for students 55+, will demystify topics like Windows, the Windows Desktop, basic terminology, connecting to the internet, understanding browsers and search engines, as well as provide a basic introduction to word processing.

This course, designed for students 55 and older, as a continuation of Computer Concepts for Beginners. Now that you are comfortable with computer basics, take your skills to the next level by learning how to create folders and manage your files, size windows, move and copy files, and multitask in the Windows environment. Emphasis will also be given to continued work in Microsoft Word.

This is a 2-part class that will teach students 55 + everything you need to know about using the basics of your iPad. We will cover the basics during the first class. The basics include, connecting to Wi-Fi, set up email, change settings, and exploring iCloud. In the second part of the class we will learn about downloading and using apps from the App Store, using FaceTime, email, internet (Safari), photos and much more.

Reconstruction: America’s Forgotten Era

Reconstruction was, and probably still is, one of the most controversial and formative eras of United States history. Following in the wake of four years of destructive war, the South was literally and figuratively destroyed. The work of “reconstructing” the South’s political, social, and economic structures began in haste. Designed for students 55 +, our goal will be to focus in on this period, study its importance, and more importantly, analyze the repercussions of this period which still affect us today.

Register for Reconstruction America's Forgotten Era

Gentle Yoga

This course will provide students 55 and older with gentle stretching and breathing techniques. These series of poses (asana) can be done on a chair or on a mat. These poses stretch the muscles in the body while increasing flexibility in the joints. Yoga creates relaxation, pain relief, easing of depression and anxiety, and improving the quality of life.

This Zumba Gold course will provide students 55 and older who are looking for a modified Zumba class that creates the original moves you love at a lower-intensity. The design of the class introduces east-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong. Class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility and balance!
