The TRIO Student Support Services (TRIO SSS) is funded by the United States Department of Education.  Under the federal guidelines, students enrolled at Massasoit Community College may be eligible to participate in TRIO SSS if they are first-generation college attendees, low income, or have a documented disability. The goal of the program is to increase retention, graduation, and transfer rates from two-year to four-year institutions by providing an array of comprehensive support services to assist with academic and personal needs.

TRIO SSS is recognized as a student-focused center of excellence in academic advising, counseling and mentoring. TRIO SSS serves as a resource and voice for undergraduate, first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities at Massasoit Community College. It is a learning environment that challenges students to grow academically, personally and professionally. We nurture a sense of empowerment and strive to bridge the gap between the dream and the reality of achieving a college degree. We are at the forefront of effective advising, counseling, mentoring and administrative practices. TRIO SSS is regarded as a diverse community of advisors, mentors, and administrators dedicated to the success of all our students.

The mission of the TRIO SSS is to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of services provided to maximize educational opportunities. The goal of the TRIO SSS is to increase the college retention and graduation rates of its participants and facilitate the process of transition from one level of higher education to the next.  TRIO SSS is designed for students who have the academic potential to succeed but whose background and/or extenuating life circumstances place those students at additional risk of not fulfilling their educational goals. Our mission will be realized by providing comprehensive support services that assist students in reaching their full potential for learning.
