Dental Insurance Coverage

Dental coverage and eligibility vary by employee group and collective bargaining agreement.

Faculty & Unit Professional Employees (MCCC)

Coverage with MetLife is provided with no monthly premium through the Board of Higher Education Dental Plans. This benefit includes preventive, restorative, and major dental services, ensuring you maintain optimal oral health with no monthly premium.

Classified Employees (AFSCME)

Coverage with Massachusetts Public Employees Fund begins the first day of the month following six months of employment, with no monthly premium. Access a wide network of dental providers and comprehensive coverage options.

Employee Assistance Programs

Massasoit Community College offers two confidential, prepaid Employee Assistance Programs: Mass4YOU and AllOne Health for employees and eligible family members. These valuable resources provide professional support for life's challenges, helping you navigate personal and professional issues with expert guidance at no cost to you.

System-Wide Tuition Remission

The Department of Higher Education provides tuition remission benefits for employees, their spouses, and dependent children at public colleges and universities across the Commonwealth. This valuable benefit opens doors to educational opportunities throughout Massachusetts' public higher education system, supporting lifelong learning and professional development.

Tuition Reimbursement Policy

Massasoit Community College will determine, annually, a fund for the purpose of tuition reimbursement for full-time staff. The program will be administered on a first come, first served basis. Massasoit Community College will reimburse eligible full-time employees for tuition expenses (not including books or supplies) paid to regionally accredited schools, colleges and universities, as set forth in this policy.

Retirement Benefits & Plans

Benefits-eligible employees have access to mandatory state retirement plans and voluntary savings options, along with resources and guidance to support informed retirement planning.

Massachusetts State Employees' Retirement System (MSERS)

The MSERS is a contributory, defined benfit retirement system administered by the Massachusetts State Board of Retirement under M.G.L. Chapter 32. It provides retirement, disability, survivor, and death benefits to members and their beneficiaries, ensuring financial security throughout your retirement years.

Optional Retirement Plan (ORP)

The Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) is available to new benefited faculty, MCCC Unit Professionals, and Non-Unit Professionals who are not vested in MSERS. The plan is a defined contribution plan administered by the Department of Higher Education and provides retirement income based on the investment performance of your individual account.

Savings Plans

Employees may also participate in voluntary, supplemental retirement savings plans at any time4there is no enrollment deadline. These plans allow you to save additional pre-tax or post-tax dollars beyond your mandatory retirement plan, maximizing your retirement readiness.

403(b) Plan

Administered by the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education. Offers tax-advantaged retirement savings with a wide range of investment options.

Social Security & Medicare

Massachusetts state employees do not contribute to Social Security as part of their employment benefits. However, Medicare deductions are withheld from earnings as required by federal law, ensuring you have access to Medicare coverage when you reach eligibility age.
