The mission for Massasoit’s Veterans Services is to honor and support our service members both current and former as well as their families by providing the most comprehensive and caring college experience possible while helping them to reach their educational, personal and professional goals.
Massasoit Community College is approved for the training of veterans and their dependents. Veterans are assisted in obtaining educational benefits, work study positions, tutorial help, and other services.

Veterans or dependents eligible for assistance under the Veterans Administration programs should contact the Office of Veterans Services after they are matriculated (enrolled) into a degree program at Massasoit and are ready to register for their classes.

Massasoit Community College under S2248 PL 115-407 will not enforce any penalties for any late payments or any other penalties against a veteran, dependent or eligible individual. Any portion of the student bill not covered by VA benefits is still expected to be settled by the due date.

Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018 ‐ Section 103
Additional Information
The Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014 (codified at 38 U.S.C. 3679) has been amended by Section 1005 of Public Law 116-315, the Johnny Isakson and David P. Roe, M.D., Veterans Health Care and Benefits Improvement Act of 2020, which modifies 38 U.S.C. 3679(c).
The amendment requires that for all courses, semesters, or terms beginning after August
1, 2021, public institutions of higher education must charge qualifying veterans,
dependents and eligible individuals tuition and fees at the rate for in-state residents.
As amended, 38 U.S.C. 3679(c) requires that the following individuals be charged the
in-state resident rate:
- A veteran using educational assistance under either Chapter 30 (Montgomery GI Bill® – Active Duty Program), Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation) or Chapter 33 (Post-9/11 G Bill), of 38 U.S.C. who lives in the state in which the institution is located (regardless of his/her formal state of residence).• Anyone using transferred Post-9/11 G.I. Bill benefits (38 U.S.C. § 3319) who lives in the state in which the institution is located (regardless of his/her formal state of residence).
- Anyone described above while he or she remains continuously enrolled (other than during regularly scheduled breaks between courses, semesters, or terms) at the same institution. The person must be using educational benefits under Chapter 30, Chapter 31 or Chapter 33 of 38 U.S.C.
- Anyone using benefits under the Marine Gunnery Sergeant John David Fry Scholarship (38 U.S.C. § 3311(b)(9)) who lives in the state in which the institution is located (regardless of his/her formal state of residence).”
Title 38 United States Code Section 3679(e) School Compliance
Massasoit Community College allows any qualified individual to attend or participate
in educational courses starting from the date they provide the institution with a
certificate of eligibility for educational assistance under Chapter 31 or Chapter
33. This certificate of eligibility may also include a “Statement of Benefits” obtained
from department of Veterans Affairs website ebenefits or CH31. Authorization.
Massasoit Community College will not:
- Prevent the students enrollment;
- Access a late penalty fee to;
- Require student secure alternative or additional funding;
- Deny their Access to any resourses, libraries, or other institutional facilities available to other students who have satisfied their tuition and fee bills to institution.
However, to qualify for this provision, such students may be required to: Provide Chapter 33 Certificate of Eligibility (or its equivalent} or for Chapter 31, VA VR&E’s contract with the school on VA Form 28-1905 by the first day of class.

In accordance with the Massachusetts VALOR Act Academic Credit Evaluation Policy, Massasoit Community College recognizes the academic value of military education, training, occupations, and service-related experience. The College has established procedures to review official military transcripts and supporting documentation to determine whether academic credit may be awarded toward a certificate or degree program. Credit evaluations are conducted using recognized national standards and institutional guidelines to ensure fair, consistent, and academically appropriate decisions that support student veterans in achieving their educational goals efficiently.
Massasoit Community College designates a single point of contact within Veterans Services to assist student veterans with questions regarding military credit evaluation and the VALOR Act policy. This representative works collaboratively with academic departments and advising staff to coordinate transcript reviews and communicate credit decisions to students. The College is committed to applying this policy consistently with Massachusetts public higher education standards while providing clear guidance and individualized support throughout the evaluation process.
- Academic Credit: Massasoit evaluates military training and experience to award college credit, often utilizing American Council on Education (ACE) guidelines.
- In-State Tuition: Veterans receiving benefits under the Post-9/11 GI Bill or Montgomery GI Bill, as well as spouses or children using transferred benefits, are charged in-state tuition and fees according to The Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 (Section 702)
- Support Services: The college has dedicated veteran services to assist with benefits, enrollment, and credit transfers. All military education, training experience.
