Massasoit Community College hosts Commencement once per year. View Commencement Information.

Massasoit’s diplomas list the degree earned only (e.g., Associate in Science). They do not list any program names. The official transcript is the appropriate document to demonstrate the field of study for any potential employers or other educational institutions.

Certificates list the student’s program on the certificate.

Diplomas/certificates are mailed to students’ home addresses 6-8 weeks after the August and January conferral dates. For the May/June Commencement, as the student walks across the stage, he/she will be presented with a diploma cover. The actual diploma/certificate will be handed to the student after the ceremony at a designated location. For students who do not attend the ceremony, diplomas/certificates will be mailed to the student’s home address at a later date. Please be sure to update address(es) if necessary to ensure receipt.

Degree Conferral

Massasoit has three degree conferral dates: one in January for coursework completed during the fall semester, one in May/June for coursework completed during the spring semester, and one in August for coursework completed during either summer term. Commencement ceremonies are held once a year at the end of the spring semester. Graduating students will receive a postcard about attending the May/June ceremony.

Graduation with Honors

Graduation with honors is an official recognition by the college of outstanding academic achievement by a student during the entire period of his/her enrollment at the college. Honors are given only to individuals receiving an Associate in Applied Science, Associate in Science, Associate in Arts, and our three Board of Higher Education recognized certificate programs.

A student’s cumulative GPA as of his/her last semester in attendance before degree conferral is used to determine graduation honors.

Honors3.30–3.69 GPA
High Honors3.70–3.89 GPA
Highest Honors3.90 and above GPA

The corresponding honors designation will appear on a student’s official transcript. Phi Theta Kappa membership and honors program fulfillment will also appear on an official transcript.

Financial Requirements

All financial obligations, including library books, equipment owed, bills, etc., must be met in order to receive an official transcript upon graduation.

Financial Aid Students

Every student graduating from Massasoit Community College who has borrowed a federal student loan is required by federal regulations to complete a loan exit interview. Failure to complete student loan exit counseling will prevent students from receiving his/her diploma.

If you have any questions about this information, or would like to schedule an appointment to discuss your loan repayment options, please contact the Financial Aid Office at 508-588-9100 x1479.
