Massasoit Students Eligible to Gain Aviation Maintenance Experience Through Partnership Between Massasoit and Cape Cod Community College
Aug. 21, 2017 – Massasoit Community College and Cape Cod Community College (CCCC) are pleased to announce a new partnership between the two institutions to offer Massasoit students access to CCCC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program.
The Plymouth Municipal Airport, home to the hands-on training component of CCCC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology Program, sits about halfway between the campuses of Massasoit Community College and Cape Cod Community College (CCCC). Now, students at both institutions will be eligible to enroll in this specialized program, one of only six in the country with this model.
Massasoit students who take the required general education courses at Massasoit and meet the requirements are guaranteed admission into the program, Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Maintenance Technology. Along the way, students earn an Academic Certificate in AMT-Airframe, and a second Academic Certificate in AMT-Powerplant.
“This partnership demonstrates the innovative collaboration taking place in public higher education today. Our collective goal is to provide students in our region with an exceptional education, giving them the skills they need to succeed in their goals,” said Dr. Charles Wall, president of Massasoit Community College.
Workforce data predicts hundreds of thousands of job openings in the field today and in the future. This program gives students valuable credentials and hands-on training in a stable industry, with starting salaries ranging in the $40K-$60K range.
Due to the level of specialized training, this is a highly competitive program with a maximum amount of students allowed to enroll in each cohort cycle. Interested students should contact Massasoit’s transfer coordinator Evan Desatnick at 508-588-9100, x1463 or email edesatnick1@massasoit.mass.edu.
Presidents Wall and Cox will signed the articulation agreement in a ceremony on August 18 at the Plymouth Municipal Airport Cape Cod Community College hangar.
