Nearly 500 Attend Massasoit Community College Open House
Prospective students and families from across Eastern Massachusetts visit to learn about academic and student support programs.
BROCKTON, Mass (April 7, 2025) – Massasoit Community College welcomed almost 500 students and families from across Eastern Massachusetts to its Spring 2025 Open House held at the College’s Brockton Campus on Saturday, April 5.

During the Open House, prospective students had the opportunity to learn about Massasoit’s range of degree and certificate programs across several academic pathways, including the chance to meet current students in programs like health sciences and STEM. During the student services and engagement fair, they spoke with staff from Massasoit’s admissions, financial aid, advising, student life, and student success offices.
Informational sessions and tables about free college at Massasoit during the event were well attended. The removal of cost as a barrier to attendance, for many students, has contributed to Massasoit’s enrollment growth. This spring, over 5,700 students were enrolled for credit at Massasoit.

Nick Fitzgerald, an Abington resident finishing his senior year at South Shore Technical, visited Open House with his mother Jenn to learn about his college options, with an eye towards Massasoit’s media arts programs.
“This was my first college visit, and I didn’t really know what to expect, and I am now leaving with more information that I even knew I needed,” Nick said. “I really loved speaking with Massasoit’s media arts program staff – their podcasting work seems really cool.”
Prospective students who couldn’t attend the Open House are encouraged to visit Massasoit’s Student Central – a one-stop for enrollment services – in person on the Brockton campus or online at Massasoit.edu/studentcentral. There they can learn about the application process, financial aid, registration, and even schedule a campus tour.
“While Open House is a fun way to visit campus and learn about the educational opportunities we offer the region, our staff is ready year-round to answer questions and guide students through the enrollment process,” said Bill Mitchell, Massasoit’s interim president. “If you need help, want to tour campus, or are ready to apply, visit our Brockton Campus, give us a call, or visit our website to get started.”
Founded in 1966, Massasoit Community College offers students from southeastern Massachusetts and beyond access to more than 60 associate degree and certificate programs across arts, sciences, applied sciences, healthcare, and technology at locations in Brockton, Canton, Middleborough, and online. More than 8,000 students enroll for credit at Massasoit each year; another 1,500 students annually enroll in non-credit community education or workforce development courses. Typically, more than 800 students graduate from Massasoit with an associate degree or certificate each year. Massasoit students are given access to wraparound services provided on campus to support their success inside and outside the classroom. For more information, visit massasoit.edu.
