President Bill Mitchell

Bill Mitchell has served as the College’s Interim President since April 2024. Before his appointment, he served as Massasoit’s Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer. He brings more than 35 years of higher education experience to the President’s Office.

From 1985 to 1994, Bill held a number of roles across Massasoit, including in finance, student activities, and as adjunct faculty. He served as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Financial Services at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth from 1994 to 2012. In 2012, he returned to Massasoit as the Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer. He served as Interim President from September 2017 until July 2018.

A proud native of Brockton, Bill attended Massasoit Community College before he earned a Bachelor of Science in Management from Bridgewater State University and a Master of Arts in Public Administration from Framingham State University.

Massasoit's Board of Trustees is comprised of 11-members, including a current student, appointed by the governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Senior Leadership & President's Cabinet

The President’s Senior Leadership team and Cabinet includes a cross-cutting team of administrators and academic dean’s responsible for leading the College’s employees in support of its students.

Governance

Massasoit’s college governance structure is based on the Academic Senate, which serves as the College’s primary governance body for academic policies, curriculum, and academic standards. The Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the primary representative body for students and provides an important mechanism for student participation in institutional governance and decision-making.
