Public Records & Open Bids
How to Request Public Records
If the records you are searching for are not available on this site, you can request those records by contacting the Massasoit Community College Records Access Officer. A request for public records should include:
- Description of specific records being requested
- Date parameters for the public records being requested
- Name of person or organization requesting the public records
- The requesting person’s/organization’s contact information
Acting Records Access Officer
Kendra Butters
Vice President of External Relations
records@massasoit.mass.edu
Within 10 business days of receipt of the request, you will either receive the record or will be contacted in writing. Written responses will be to acknowledge the request and provide a date the records will be available, to deny the request with an explanation of the denial, or to ask for further clarification.
Please keep in mind the college’s response time will depend on the number of public record requests being processed by the College, how many records are responsive to the request, how old the records being requested are, and how specific the request is.
Note: In compliance with this law, Massasoit Community College provides the most commonly requested public records.
The Massachusetts Public Records Law (M.G.L. Chapter 66 & Chapter 4, Section 7(26)) provides that every person has a right to access public information.
- This right of access includes the right to inspect or be furnished a copy of any public record within ten (10) business days following the receipt of a request.
- A state agency is only required to provide records that are in existence and is not required to create a new record based on information in its custody to accommodate a specific request.
Fee Estimates
Under some circumstances a state agency may assess a reasonable fee for the production of public records. Permissible charges include, but are not limited to, fees for storage devices or materials, five cents ($0.5) per copy and personnel services. There shall be no fee for personnel services for the first 4 hours of work performed. If more than 4 hours of employee time is required to search for, compile, segregate, redact or reproduce the records requested, a fee may be charged at an hourly rate equal to or less than the hourly rate attributed to the lowest paid employee who has the necessary skill required to complete the record request, which rate shall not exceed twenty-five dollars ($25) per hour. Said fee restrictions may not apply when a request for records is for a commercial purpose as determined by the Commonwealth’s Supervisor of Records.
