Nurse Education – Day/Evening Options
Day Option
The College offers full-time day courses of study leading to an Associate in Science Degree and eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN. Academically qualified generic students are admitted annually. The course of study is two years.
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are admitted annually to the second year through advanced placement. Credit is granted for Nursing I, II, and III. To be eligible for advanced placement, the LPN must:
- Have graduated from an approved school of practical nursing
- Hold a current license to practice practical nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Have successfully completed the required first-year prerequisite courses
LPN graduates of Southeastern Regional, Blue Hills Technical, and Bristol-Plymouth Technical School may be granted transfer credit for the course Human Growth and Development/. Developmental Psychology
Evening LPN to AD Option
The College offers a part-time evening LPN to AD cohort course of study, designed to provide an extended period of study for LPNs seeking to advance to the RN role. This course of study leads to an Associate in Science Degree and eligibility to take the NCLEX-RN.
LPNs receive advanced placement if they:
- Graduated from an approved school of practical nursing
- Hold a current, unencumbered license to practice practical nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Have successfully completed the required first three semesters of coursework
Credit is granted for Nursing I, II, and III. LPN graduates of Southeastern Regional, Blue Hills Technical, and Bristol-Plymouth Technical School may be granted transfer credit for the course Human Growth and Development/ Developmental Psychology
The evening LPN to AD option does not receive state funding; therefore, all evening nursing courses must be self-supporting. Tuition per credit for evening nursing courses is approved by Massasoit’s Board of Trustees and is subject to change.
