Bob Rivers has served as the CEO and Chair of the Board of Directors at Eastern Bank since 2017. Rivers began working for Eastern Bank in 2006 as Vice Chair and Chief Banking Officer, he progressed to President in 2007, Chief Operating Officer in 2012, and became an Eastern Bank Director in 2015. From 2007 to 2020, Mr. Rivers also served as a trustee of Eastern Bank Corporation.

Prior to his tenure at Eastern, spanning from 1991 to 2005, Mr. Rivers held various staff and line leadership positions at M&T Bank in Buffalo, NY. He served as an Executive Vice President for Retail Banking at the former Commercial Federal Bank in Omaha, Nebraska.

Apart from his responsibilities at Eastern Bank, Mr. Rivers is actively involved in several organizations. He currently chairs the Board of the Dimock Center, sits on the executive committee of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, chairs the Massachusetts Business Roundtable, and is a trustee of Stonehill College. Additionally, he serves on the boards of the Lowell Plan and the Advisory Boards of the Lawrence Partnership, the JFK Library Foundation, and the Boston Women’s Workforce Council.

Recognized as a leader in Boston’s business community, Mr. Rivers has been acknowledged for his advocacy on social justice issues. He notably led the “Yes on 3” campaign, advocating for the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Mr. Rivers earned his undergraduate degree from Stonehill College and holds an M.B.A. from the University of Rochester.
