Scholarships
A scholarship is a form of financial aid awarded to a student based on merit, financial need, or other criteria established by the scholarship donor. Like grants, scholarships do not have to be repaid.
Massasoit students may be eligible for two types of scholarships:
- Massasoit Foundation Scholarships
- Outside Scholarships
The Massasoit Foundation manages numerous scholarship funds to benefit the students by helping to keep a Massasoit education affordable. Despite the College’s low tuition, the total cost of attendance can be an obstacle to many potential students pursuing their college studies. Scholarships help students bridge that gap.
Scholarships are offered in a number of disciplines and many, though not all, award their scholarships based on financial need. Some scholarships, such as the Commonwealth Honors Scholarship, are merit-based and do not require that a student have a demonstrated need for financial aid.

Many local, state, and national organizations offer scholarships to help students cover college expenses. These awards are typically offered by nonprofit foundations, civic groups, professional associations, and private donors.
Massasoit encourages students to explore scholarship opportunities from trusted sources such as:
MEFA Pathway – A free planning portal from the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority that includes a robust scholarship search tool with both local and national opportunities. Especially helpful for Massachusetts students.
College Board Scholarship Search – A trusted national database maintained by the makers of the SAT and AP exams.
Fastweb – One of the largest scholarship search engines, offering personalized matches and additional financial aid resources.
Scholarships.com– A comprehensive site that matches students with a wide variety of scholarship opportunities.
Avoid Scholarship Scams
Legitimate scholarships do not require application fees or ask for sensitive personal information such as your bank account or Social Security number. Be cautious of offers that guarantee funding or seem too good to be true. Always verify the source before sharing any information.
