This two-year program, which is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Education in Nursing and approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, prepares students for a variety of rewarding careers in the field of nursing. Graduates of the program are awarded an Associate in Science in Nurse Education degree and are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination to become licensed as a registered nurse.

Students wishing to enter this program are required to take the Entrance Examination for Schools of Nursing. More information about the admission procedure can be obtained by requesting the Nurse Education brochure from Massasoit’s Admissions Office.

In addition to courses in general education, liberal arts and nursing theory, carefully selected clinical experiences in local hospitals and health agencies enable students to develop the skills necessary in order to receive credit and progress to the next program level.

Students contemplating a career in nursing must be aware that if they have ever been convicted by a court of law, their records will be subject to review by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing upon application to take the NCLEX-RN examination. A Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check will be required for all students before clinical experience.

Area students who have completed their associate degree in nursing now have the opportunity to earn their bachelor of science in nursing from Curry College right at Massasoit’s Brockton campus. Students in the RN-BS program benefit from the instruction of expert, full-time faculty and a competitive tuition rate. Graduates wishing to continue their education and earn a bachelor of science in nursing can also enroll at a number of area four-year colleges and universities.
