Welcome to Massasoit Community College!

Participation in New Student Orientation is a requirement for all new students to ensure a smooth transition to Massasoit.

  • WHY?
New Student Orientation (NSO) introduces programs and services designed to foster academic, career and social development. The purpose of NSO is three-fold:
    • To Engage: We provide opportunities for new students to engage with peers, faculty and staff, which lays the foundation for future connections within the classroom and greater college community.
    • To Empower: We emphasize the institution’s role in fostering student empowerment as navigators of their own success.
    • To Equip: We introduce students to the tools and processes critical to course registration, program and career planning and college financing.
  • WHEN?
Completing NSO at Massasoit is a two-step process that is completed after a student has been admitted to a degree or certificate program and after their course placement is complete.

NSO FAQs

  • After you have been admitted to a degree or certificate program and you have completed course placement, you will be invited to NSO Part I (an online course) via an email to your personal email address on file with the college. You will access this course by logging into your MyMassasoit portal account. Click on the Canvas icon from the left-hand Launchpad menu. This will take you to your dashboard where you will see your course, Massasoit Online Orientation. Click on your course and begin!
  • Expert Tip: The email address you supplied on your admissions application is the address the invitation will be sent to. If you supplied an email address that you no longer use, or an address that belongs to someone else who helped you complete your application, please contact the Admissions Office at admoffice@massasoit.mass.edu or by phone at 508-588-9100 x1411 to update your record with the correct email address.

Make sure you check your junk, spam, or clutter folder for the email invitation. Sometimes your email provider will route the invitations to those folders. If you checked and it is not there, please email us at onlineorientation@massasoit.mass.edu. Let us know your name and Massasoit Student ID Number (V Number), which can be found on the bottom of your acceptance letter, and we will assist you.

Each of the modules in the online course has a Progress Check, or a quiz at the end of it. The course will not let you proceed to the next module until you have correctly answered each of the questions in the Progress Check. If you missed a question or got one wrong, that’s okay! Just go back and select the correct answer to move forward.
