Silvera has been an active part of the Massasoit community for many years. He was appointed to the Massasoit Community College Board of Trustees by Gov. Charlie Baker in 2018 and until recently served on the College’s Foundation Board of Directors. A proud Brockton resident, he supports numerous College events and programs throughout the year.

Over 1,600 people are expected to attend the ceremony. In addition to Silvera, graduates and their guests will hear speeches from Associate Professor Prisca Sanon and student speaker Kacey Hilton-Gilleo and remarks from College leadership. Additionally, Faith Amado will be recognized as the 2025 Presidential Scholar.

“Commencement is Massasoit’s biggest day of the year – our chance to celebrate the academic achievements of the Class of 2025; a recognition of their years of hard work, long hours studying, and time spent making friends and building professional networks,” said Bill Mitchell, President of Massasoit Community College. “We are looking forward to a truly special ceremony, given the deep, meaningful connections that Eval, Prisca, and Kacey have with our students and community.”

A native of Haiti, Sanon earned degrees from Haiti, Singapore, and the United States – including an associate degree from Massasoit. In 2016, she became the lead mentor in Massasoit’s STEM internship program, later joining the College’s adjunct faculty. In 2024, she began her tenure as an Associate Professor of Mathematics.

Hilton-Gilleo is well-known at Massasoit – she has served as student trustee since 2023. She is completing a degree in business, having earned an associate degree in theatre arts last year. She plans on enrolling at a four-year college in the fall.

Amado is earning an associate degree in biology and aspires to become a physician. The Presidential Scholar is selected from a pool of graduates who have earned a 4.0 grade point average in pursuit of an associate degree. They must apply for the award and complete an essay.

“Congratulations to Kacey, Faith, and their fellow graduates of the Class of 2025,” said Mitchell. “All of the faculty and staff at Massasoit wish them the best of luck as they continue on their academic journey or begin new careers.”
