  • Review employers’ websites and event logistics.
  • Make a list of employers you want to speak to at the fair, noting your top 5 choices.
  • Use your research about employers, their work, and available positions to develop questions to understand their organization better and develop conversation.
  • Develop and practice a professional, 30-second introduction until you’re comfortable. Your introduction should include:  your name, your major or area expertise, your graduation date, and why you stopped to talk to this person.

During the Career Fair

  • Keep track of positions you’re interested in and the companies you’ve spoken to by collecting business cards or contact information so you can follow up after the event.
  • Take notes on each company’s booth and offerings so you can tailor your follow-up emails and applications.
  • Stay organized by keeping a folder or digital record of brochures, flyers, and other materials from companies of interest.
  • Attend company presentations or workshops to learn about specific industries or career paths.
