City, Massasoit Community College, NeighborWorks Southern Mass. to provide free income tax preparation assistance

tax_timeJanuary 15, 2015 – BROCKTON—The City of Brockton, Massasoit Community College and NeighborWorks Southern Mass. are joining forces to provide free income tax preparation assistance to local residents through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

The VITA program offers free tax preparation and electronic filing assistance for individuals and families who have an annual income of $53,000 or less. Tax preparation assistance will be available on Mondays at the Brockton Public Library from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Massasoit Community College Library in the Student Center building beginning Feb. 2 and continuing through April 6, 2015. The site will be closed Feb. 16 in observance of Presidents Day, March 21 during Massasoit’s spring break, and may close due to inclement weather.

Assistance will be provided on a first come, first served basis and generally takes about one hour.
