Classes at Marshfield High to Continue Spring 2017

Jan. 9, 2017 – This spring, Massasoit will continue to partner with Marshfield High School to offer college credit courses at the high school to those eligible for college-level course work, including college transfers and high school students.

Operating out of three classrooms and one technology lab at the high school, the college holds classes twice a week during the fall and spring semesters, and offers both general education courses and marine technology courses to eligible students.

This new development marks the growing role of community colleges to strengthen workforce development throughout the South Shore and to offer young people the opportunity to pursue their education and career development.

This spring, Massasoit will offer the following courses:

Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:45 p.m.
MLSL 102: Beginning American Sign Language II
ENGL 102: English Composition II

Thursdays, 6:00 – 8:45 p.m.
MATH 131: Introduction to Statistics

“We are pleased to continue to offer evening courses locally through our partnership with Marshfield High School,” said Charles Wall, president of Massasoit Community College.

“This new partnership offers so much promise to young students who can help fill hundreds upon thousands of job openings in the maritime industry. I also look forward to promoting business growth in the Enterprise Drive area with the building of a maritime center in Marshfield,” said state Rep. James Cantwell, D-Marshfield.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Massasoit and host some of their courses in our state-of-the-art high school facility. It’s been a wonderful asset to our community for the last few months. We’re looking forward to continuing to strengthen this partnership so it can further benefit our citizens and the students of Marshfield Public Schools,” said Sean P. Costello, chairman of the Marshfield School Committee.
