*General College Fee (GCF): The GCF is a mandatory per-credit charge that supports the comprehensive operational expenses of the college. This fee encompasses a wide range of services and resources, including academic support, facility maintenance, administrative functions, and student services, contributing to the overall functioning of the institution.

**Students registering for credit courses at Massasoit Community College are required to complete the Massachusetts Community College – In-State Tuition Eligibility Form. Students who do not complete this form will be charged the higher non-resident rate for tuition. Undocumented students and other students who meet certain criteria may be eligible for in-state tuition as a “High School Completer”. Massachusetts law requires that all degree- or certificate-seeking students enrolled in nine or more credits must either enroll in the college’s Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or provide proof of comparable coverage by submitting a Health Insurance Waiver Form. This form must be completed online through the MyMassasoit Portal. After logging in, navigate to Student Self-Service on the Launchpad and select Health Insurance Waiver from the menu on the left. This requirement applies to all students, including those enrolled through MassReconnect or MassEducate.

Students enrolled in a degree or certificate program and registered for nine or more credits are automatically billed for SHIP unless they submit a valid waiver. The annual premium for the 2025–2026 academic year (September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2026) is $4,379. Students who begin in the spring and are enrolled for the January 1, 2026 – August 31, 2026 coverage period will be charged a spring-only premium of $2,919.

Students who already have health insurance that meets SHIP coverage standards may waive the insurance charge by completing the waiver form. To qualify, the student’s insurance must provide comprehensive coverage in the region where they attend college, including emergency and non-emergency care, behavioral health services, and prescription drug coverage. Waivers are valid for the full academic year. Students who submit a waiver in the fall do not need to resubmit one in the spring, provided their coverage and enrollment status remain unchanged.

Students who are covered under MassHealth Standard or CommonHealth are eligible to waive the SHIP charge. However, students enrolled in certain other MassHealth-related plans—including the Children’s Medical Security Plan (CMSP), Healthy Net, MassHealth Limited, or other limited-benefit or out-of-state Medicaid plans—do not meet the minimum coverage requirements and must remain enrolled in SHIP.

Students who plan to use financial aid to cover the cost of the SHIP must complete a Title IV Authorization Form. This form must be completed online through the MyMassasoit Portal. After logging in, navigate to Student Self-Service on the Launchpad and select Title IV Authorization from the menu on the left. This authorization allows federal financial aid, such as Pell Grants or student loans, to be applied to non-tuition charges like the insurance premium. Without this authorization, students are responsible for paying the full cost of the insurance out of pocket. This requirement applies to all students, including those enrolled through MassReconnect or MassEducate.

Please note: Coverage through the Student Health Insurance Plan will not be activated until after the premium has been paid in full.
