Media Arts Program outcomes
The Associate of Arts Media Arts Degree Program will:
- Provide faculty who are experienced media professionals dedicated to meeting the needs of community college students by creating a supportive environment necessary for learning.
- Provide lecture-based and experiential learning, focusing on current industry methods, digital tools, and technology.
- Offer elective options that allow students to explore Broadcasting, Journalism, Theatre Arts, and related creative fields as they connect with Media Arts.
- Foster an attitude of adaptability, professionalism, and life-long learning as essential qualities for success in today’s evolving media landscape.
Student Learning Outcomes:
- Learn and apply the vocabulary of media production, performance, and digital storytelling, with competency in both on-air and behind-the-scenes skills.
Understand, analyze, and explain the influence of media on culture and society in both historical and contemporary contexts. - Apply knowledge of media theory and practice across radio, television, film, and digital platforms.
- Demonstrate proficiency in critical thinking, oral communication, writing, and visual literacy for diverse media formats.
- Write and produce original content that shows critical engagement with primary and secondary media texts and industry research.
- Assess the interdisciplinary nature of media production, including performance, editing, sound, design, and digital integration.
- Work creatively, collaboratively, and cooperatively within production teams in professional and academic settings.
