Psi Beta is a national honor society for students attending two-year colleges, inviting students who plan to major or minor in psychology, as well as students who simply have an interest in psychology. Psi Beta’s mission is to encourage professional development and psychological literacy of students by promoting and recognizing excellence in scholarship, leadership, research, and community service.

Membership is offered through Massasoit’s local Psi Beta chapter and is open to students who maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 and have completed a college-level psychology course with a grade of B or higher. Psi Beta’s chapters’ functions and activities are operated by the Psi Beta student members and faculty advisors, and the Psi Beta National Council guides the affairs and policies of the organization.

Psi Beta is a certified member of the National Association of College Honor Societies, Affiliate of the American Psychological Association, and Affiliate of the American Psychological Society.

The goals of the Psi Beta Honors Program are:

  • To create enriched educational opportunities for academically talented and highly motivated students majoring in Psychology.
  • To encourage the recognition of Psychology majors as an integral part of our college community.
  • To encourage faculty to mentor Psychology majors and to assist them in the transfer to four-year colleges and universities appropriate to their needs.
  • To provide opportunities for internships and independent study in the field of Psychology.
