BROCKTON, Mass (August 14, 2025) – The Massasoit Theatre Company’s show-stopping performances of Pippin and Godspell were recently recognized by the Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community Theatres (EMACT). These two productions were nominated in 4 out of 38 categories of EMACT’s Distinguished Awards and Special Honors program, a competitive, peer-adjudicated awards competition. Pippin and Godspell cast and crew members included Massasoit Community College students, alumni, and members from the local community.

EMACT member groups apply for any of their in-season productions (musical or play) to be considered for the Distinguished Awards program. Two different performances of the production are attended by two individuals from a pool of more than 20 trained and knowledgeable theater consultants, who then score the production in a number of categories. Scores are tallied at the end of the season, and the six top-scoring shows in each category receive nominations.

The DASH Gala Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 24 at which time we will learn the winners from each category. The Massasoit Theatre Company’s White Christmas and Legally Blonde qualified for the following Distinguished Awards for a musical:

  • Supporting Performer in a Musical – Cynthia Krebs Lee, Pippin
  • Supporting Performer in a Musical – Carole Shannon, Pippin
  • Set Design for a Musical- Emmett Buhmann, Godspell
  • Lighting Design for a Musical-Artie Sharpe, Godspell
  • Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient- Nathan Fogg Desisto
