During the Fall 2025 semester, work was being done on Massasoit’s news Science Building from every direction – including from above and below.

Once home to offices, classrooms, and a lecture hall, the conversion of the LA Building requires significant digging. Why? New laboratories require gas and water lines in spaces throughout the building to support a range of biology and physical science classes.

Early in the semester, crews dug trenches in the building to run new utility lines to meet the needs of the new space. They also worked on the exterior of the building – working on the fascia and soffit along with installing new windows.

Later in the semester, crews worked on installing major systems through the building’s roof – a massive crane was on campus lowering machinery into place, all while work was ongoing on and around the buildings room – including its fascia and soffit.
