Earth Day

April 7, 2015 – For the 45th year, April will again be celebrated as Earth Month. With a growing number of individuals across the country – and the globe – taking the time to examine and discuss the environment, Massasoit has organized a variety of discussions, academic lessons, activities, and celebrations dedicated to shining a light on issues of sustainability. The Sustainability Task Force has coordinated a wide range of activities throughout the month on our campuses.

Wednesday, April 8

A hip hop musical performance with an environmental theme.

Friday, April 10
Brockton Campus, Louison Board Room, 12-1:00 p.m.
Second Friday Speaker Series: Biodiversity & the Current Mass Extinction Event
Prof. Melanie Trecek-King will discuss the many benefits that biodiversity provides and the human activities that are leading to biodiversity loss.

Friday, April 17
Brockton Campus, Upper Student Lounge, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
Earth Day Celebration: Highlighting campus sustainability initiatives, including recycling, composting, landscaping, edible gardens, hydration stations, Meatless Mondays, and student projects. Music, food, games, and prizes. Hard to recycle items will be collected for recycling, including alkaline batteries, textiles, greeting cards, and inkjet cartridges.

Canton Campus, Student Commons, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
