As a young, educated, and working professional, Alissa Hohenberger thought that something was missing from her career. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2017 with her Bachelor of Applied Science in Business Marketing and Entrepreneurship and had been working in training and sales since then. Alissa sought an opportunity to enhance and hone skills that combined her creativity with her background in businesses and would set her on a new career path altogether. Massasoit’s Interior Design & Decoration Certificate Program caught her attention, as all of its courses fit related topics she hoped to explore.

“It’s given me new drive towards a career goal I didn’t think was attainable,” Alissa said of the program. “The projects helped guide me to new clients and how to take on their ideas and transform them into reality.”

Alissa appreciated the passion and real-world experience that the instructors brought to the certificate program, which made her eager to show up to class. She learned how to put her newly acquired skills and knowledge to use in staging homes, design, and even real estate. Alissa is also happy to share what she has learned with others. For example, did you know that homes sell 60 percent quicker when they are staged, and that all staged rooms should have at least three sources of lighting?

She practiced the steps of securing and working with clients with her classmates and quickly learned that customers’ styles vary greatly. She would not hesitate to suggest the certificate program to anyone who is remotely interested in interior design as it provided more than just learning in a classroom. Class trips to Jordan’s Furniture and hands-on projects were frequent.

Alissa recently received a job offer as a Leasing Consultant and Marketing Coordinator with Capstone On-Campus Management in Boston.
