Testing Schedule
The Massachusetts Board of Higher Education requires all students attending public colleges in Massachusetts to take a series of placement tests that assess skills in writing, reading, and mathematics. The tests are not evaluated in terms of passing or failing. Rather, the tests are used to decide which courses should be taken at the beginning of a student’s college career. It is further recommended that you consult Massasoit Community College’s course descriptions for any testing pre-requisites.
Testing may be completed at any of our campuses/sites and would be accepted for all classes offered by Massasoit Community College.
Students who require testing accommodations (i.e. extra –time, reduced distraction environment, assistive technology) due to a documented disability, should contact Access and Disability Resources at 508-588-9100 x1807 to submit documentation and schedule placement testing.
New Student Orientation
New student orientation is a required event for students admitted to a degree or certificate program at the college. At this event, students are provided with information on college services, policies, activities, and programs. In addition to learning about the resources, students have an opportunity to interact with staff, faculty, and other students, partnering with them to build a connection to the college, assisting them in achieving their educational goals, and allowing them to become successful college students.
Once students have completed placement testing or transfer credits have been evaluated and recorded, students must contact the Testing and Assessment Office at 508-588-9100 x1991 or x1992, to schedule an orientation date. Orientations are offered during the day and evening in Brockton, Canton and Middleborough prior to the onset of a new semester.
If you require accommodations in order to participate in orientation due to a visual, hearing or physical disability, please inform Access and Disability Resources in advance so that accommodations can be planned for at the campus for which you are attending orientation.
