Director Considerations

Once the plays are selected, each submission will be assigned to one of our selected directors. We are looking for directors who have experience in staging theatre and are passionate about bringing stage artistry to a vast audience. The plays will be blocked as a theatrical production and then filmed for screening. There is no entry fee.

• Open to any age, as long as you are a college student.
• Must be currently enrolled in a Massachusetts College or University.
• Complete the online application.
• Include cover letter, resumé, headshot, and essay questions.
• Cover letter and resumé should highlight your experience working in theatre and film.
• Label all application documents with your first and last name.
• Must be available during rehearsal and filming dates.
• Please note that, at present, this is only open to Massachusetts students and you will need to make yourself available for the rehearsal and filming of your piece if selected.
• All filming and rehearsals will take place at Massasoit Community College.
• Please be aware that if your entry does not follow the above brief it will not be accepted.

Short Form Plays

Plays can be of any genre but need to be between 10 and 15 minutes in length and have no more than 6 actors. Five plays will be chosen in the Short Play category. There is no entry fee.

• Open to any age, as long as you are a college student,
• Must be currently enrolled in a Massachusetts College or University.
• Complete the online application.
• Include cover letter, resume, headshot, essay question, PDF copy of Script.
• Label all application documents with your first and last name.
• Scripts should follow industry standard in terms of font size, layout, page numbering etc.
• Stage directions kept to a minimum where possible
• Scripts should be a complete piece, not part of a larger script.
• A maximum of 6 actors required – if there are more than 6 roles, it should be feasible for the actors to play multiple roles
• Please note that, at present, this is only open to Massachusetts student playwrights and you will need to make yourself available for the filming of your piece if selected.
• All filming and rehearsals will take place at Massasoit Community College.
• Please be aware that if your entry does not follow the above brief it will not be accepted.
