Since 1985, Massasoit’s Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology programs have been preparing students with an up-to-date, broad range of knowledge and skills necessary to work within the dynamic field of truck and heavy equipment technology. Through classroom lectures and hands-on laboratory instruction, the program is designed to train truck and heavy equipment technicians who can maintain, repair, and overhaul heavy duty and medium vehicle engines and support systems. Students can enroll in a 2-year Associate in Applied Science program with options to focus on Heavy Equipment or Hydraulics. We also offer a 1-year certificate program for students that prepare them for work in the diesel field.

Massasoit’s program fills a growing and in demand industry need for qualified technicians. Employer partnerships include Milton Cat, Waste Management, Eversource, Boston Freightliner, and Monroe Tractor to name a few. It is the only truck and heavy equipment technology degree program in Massachusetts, attracting students from as far away as Cape Cod, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. The Truck and Heavy Equipment Technology program is accredited by the Associated Equipment Distributors Foundation, a recipient of the Cat Dealer Excellence Fund, and is also a recognized school in the Get Ahead Program through the College’s sponsored dealer Boston Freightliner (Daimler Trucks North America). Our affiliation allows students access to Freightliner chassis and Detroit engine online training programs to earn additional systems certifications in each area.
