Degree & Certificate Programs

Program Details

Developed in cooperation with the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association, the Law Enforcement Certificate prepares students for a career in local law enforcement. The certificate combines specialized criminal justice and general education coursework to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to compete for entry of the Massachusetts law enforcement field. All of the credits earned in the certificate program can be applied to a Police Career Incentive Pay Program (PCIPP) eligible Associate in Science degree in Criminal Justice.

Program Outcomes

Students who complete the Law Enforcement Certificate will have:

  • Acquired a specific academic foundation preparing them for successful completion of a Massachusetts Police Academy or similar training programs.
  • Completed the course work identified by the Commonwealth as necessary for basic academy training, and required for hybrid police academies (if offered).

Certificate in Law Enforcement

A minimum of 9 classes and 27 credits is required. At least 14 credits of your program must be taken at Massasoit. Note: Each course completed and passed can only fulfill one program requirement. The same course cannot be used to satisfy multiple program requirements.
