Program Details

Massasoit’s Hospitality Management program encourages students to acquire and develop competency in relevant and marketable business skills, including communications, quantitative analysis, critical thinking, research, and decision making. The program prepares students for employment in the rapidly expanding hotel and restaurant industry.

Hospitality students will study business applications, tourism, marketing, finances, accounting, and hotel operations. They are also introduced to a variety of business careers through learning experiences such as case analyses, simulations, community service, cooperative learning, and internships. Massasoit students gain an understanding and appreciation of technologies available in the information-based economy of the 21st century that enhance business operations.

Graduates earn an Associate in Science Degree.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the Hospitality Management program will be able:

  • To identify and apply the hospitality and leadership concepts and skills relevant to the operational areas of the hospitality management industry.
  • To demonstrate professional behavior and competencies in customer service and model these behaviors as effective leaders.
  • To develop a variety of leadership skills and aptitudes such as motivating, leading changes, and resolving conflict.
  • To communicate effectively in oral and written communication utilizing soft skills.
  • To define, identify, evaluate and solve problems along with ethical and unethical business practices, using appropriate tools and technology. 
  • To utilize leadership principles that recognize the challenges and opportunities of working effectively with people in a diverse and global environment.

Degree in Hospitality Management

A minimum of 23 classes and 63 credits is required. At least 16 credits of your program must be taken at Massasoit. Note: Each course completed and passed can only fulfill one program requirement. The same course cannot be used to satisfy multiple program requirements.
