• What is English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)?
    Adult ESOL or English for Speakers of Other Languages is the term used to describe English language instruction for adults who are non-native speakers of English. English as a Second Language or ESL is alternately used in various parts of the United States.
  • How long does it take to go through the program?
    There are 6 levels: Level 1A/1B – Beginners, Level 2A/2B – Intermediate, Level 3A/3B – Advanced. Students spend one year at each level. Upon entering the program, you will be tested and then placed into the corresponding level.
  • How much does it cost?
    Classes and books are free. The program is funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE).
  • Where are classes held?
    Classes for the Spring Semester will begin on Tuesday, January 3, 2023. Classes will use a hybrid model, meeting every Tuesday and Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Our in-person classes will be held on the first Tuesday of each month at Massasoit Community College on the Canton Campus.
  • How do I register?
    Due to high demand, the Massasoit Community ESOL program has begun to use a lottery system for a seat in our FREE English classes. The lottery is held twice a year: once in August for the Fall semester, and once in December for the Spring semester.
