Classes will be held on Saturdays from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm in person on the
Middleboro campus from September 14 thru November 23 followed by a 3-week
(120 hour) full-time practicum from December 2 thru 20 2024.

Phlebotomists are specially trained professional members of the healthcare delivery team whose primary responsibility is to collect blood specimens from patients for diagnostic testing.

This comprehensive 190-hour program consists of 70 classroom hours and a 120-hour practicum to be completed at a local facility. This program is a one semester learning experience, designed to prepare students for an entry-level position in phlebotomy and laboratory support services. Students learn through a combination of theory and laboratory practice, including instruction in venipuncture, skin puncture, special blood collections, specimen handling, waived laboratory testing, and all regulations governing safety and infection control practices.

The 120-hour clinical field placements will be held as full-time positions following the initial 10 weeks of in-class instruction. The student’s actual work schedule will be determined by the assigned clinical site.

Students must provide a completed health form including proof of immunizations and attend an intake session to complete a CORI (criminal background check) and other important documents. Acceptance is based upon completion of the student intake process at least two weeks prior to the course start date.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a certificate documenting completed course hours and will be eligible to sit for the national test offered through the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT).

September 10 – November 23, 2024;
172 hours total
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm – 9:30 pm and Saturdays
8:30 am – 5:00 pm in person at the Brockton campus.

This Massachusetts accredited certificate program is designed to prepare students to function in the field as pre-hospital care providers. The curriculum follows the National Standard Curriculum and meets and/or exceeds the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) requirements. Through classroom and hands-on training, students learn how to manage emergencies in the pre-hospital environment including but not limited to: medical, traumatic, obstetric, psychiatric, pediatric, geriatric, and environmental emergencies. Successful completion allows the student to sit for State of Massachusetts and National Registry of EMTs Emergency Medical Technician certification exams. This is an entry-level program for those who wish a career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) up to the Paramedic level.

In order to be eligible to be certified as an EMT-Basic in Massachusetts, a person must
● Be at least 18 years of age
● Abstain from the abuse of drugs which impairs professional judgment and/or practice
● Be free of any physical or mental impairment or disease which could reasonably be expected to impair the ability to be an EMT, or which could reasonably be expected to jeopardize the health and safety of the patient
● Attend all classes (OEMS requires 100% attendance)
● Meet the training requirements applicable to the level of certification
● Obtain National Registry of EMTs (NREMT) certification by successfully completing a Massachusetts psychomotor (practical) examination and NREMT cognitive (computer-based) examination

Option #1 (weekday):
October 8 – December 17, 2024; 60 hours total
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 – 9:00 pm in person on the Canton campus.

Option #2 (weekend):
October 12 – December 21, 2024; 60 hours total
Classes will be held on Saturdays from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm in person on the Canton campus.

This 60-hour course covers topics and activities including: heart anatomy and physiology, proper lead placement, operating and adjusting EKG monitors, diseases of the heart, and medical terminology. Through a combination of classroom and practical sessions you will gain experience as well as meet licensure eligibility requirements and prepare for the national certification exam.
